Google set to change mobile search requirements on 21 April 2015
If you don’t yet know it you soon will, dubbed “Mobilegeddon” by search experts around the world, the upcoming changes will spell the end of any website that is not mobile friendly when customers are searching for a business or service on their mobile device.
Websites that are not considered to be mobile friendly or are outdated and not responsive will drop down in Google search engine results pages, dramatically reducing the number of visitors to a website.
Microsoft and the European Union are among some of the many high-profile organisations that are likely be adversely affected by the upcoming changes to Google’s secret search formula – or algorithm.
Those that are most at risk are the ones that either don’t know about it, or are turning a blind eye to the situation. This is a change that Google is imposing that MUST be tackled or bare the consequences of significantly reduced traffic – come April 21 a lot of small [and large] businesses are going to be really surprised that the number of visitors to their websites has dropped considerably – this will affect millions and millions of sites on the web.
Text that is too small to read on mobile devices, links that are too close together are among the main reasons some sites will drop in mobile results pages. Google announced the changes in February, so companies have had just two months to prepare.
Google said: “This change will affect mobile searches in all languages worldwide and will have a significant impact on our search results.”
